Our Board Members
Tyler Lindstrom (orange t-shirt)
As a young adult, my family ingrained in me that helping our community is of the utmost importance. In high school, my family would serve food at UMOM (a Phoenix based homeless shelter) once a month. I would also join my youth group to UMOM to host events for the children who were living there. Helping and playing with the children was always the highlight of my weekend. Throughout my college career, I worked with several different non-profits, from athletic clubs to those addressing the community in which the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) resides. One non-profit in particular which stands out in my memories is Community Engagement. It is a non-profit based at UNC. Community Engagement’s purpose is to bridge the gap between the university and the community. We started by holding English as a Second Language classes at night for those in the community who wanted to learn English. My final project with Community Engagement was an art show consisting of 100 pictures hand drawn from local elementary students. The students drew “what means the most to them” . This demonstrated despite the difference in race, gender, or social status all the children in the Northern Colorado area, were very similar. A majority of the children’s pictures depicted friends, family and church; showing no child is less important than another. Working with this non-profit during college has really shaped my life as an adult. Out of college, I have worked to combat homelessness in Los Angeles as well as continued effort to support local and national non-profits. After an unfulfilled stint in the for-profit business world, I have moved back to Phoenix and, I have decided to return to my passion for non-profit. I have felt a great calling to help those students with Autism and Aspergers in the last year. This calling was so strong, I have decided with four other non-profit enthusiast to start Umbrella NPO. Landon Winters (middle)
My name is Landon Winters, and with the experience I have in serving the community, it is truly my honor to bring forth my talents and share them with the up and coming progress of Umbrella NPO. I have spent the majority of my life in the Phoenix area where I have been brought up actively serving within the Boy Scouts of America program. At age 18 I earned my Eagle Scout award from a project that certainly taught me the organization and leadership that a great service experience requires. Every year since my days in the Scouting program I have made it a point to actively serve the community, and do all that I can to make the society in which we reside a better place to live. I have been able to do this by donating my time to local food banks, retirement homes, and to other services that I have come to know about through my church. Along with these services I have also spent some time helping with the city of Chandler and their Special Olympic program. It was actually my experience with the Special Olympic program that impelled me towards the Umbrella NPO Board. Now, as an Umbrella NPO board member, I plan to put forth all of my efforts towards making this organization just as successful as the other non-profit organizations that I have served with in the past.

I feel that community outreach plays a fundamental part in shaping a better tomorrow. Therefore, when asked to be a part of Umbrella NPO I was thrilled. I was born and raised in Arizona and I am the older brother of a deaf sister. Since I was five I have been an active participant in the deaf community; taking sign language classes and volunteering for deaf events. This acted as my catalyst to give back to society. In high school I coached Little League baseball and as a part of my Home Economics internship program I worked as an After School Activities Counselor. In college I gave back by serving at the Andre House soup kitchen and the local animal shelter. My work at the shelter must of had some impact on my family as we now care for more than five rescued dogs! As I continue my journey I see great potential in what Umbrella NPO plans to do. With my background and outlook I hope to be an integral part of this company’s goal in reaching new horizons.

As an educator, I cannot be more excited to work alongside with Umbrella NPO, and to utilize my experience with children. Currently, I am and Elementary Education major at the University of Northern Colorado, and I am student teaching in the Phoenix area. For the past ten years, children have been a passion of mine. I have traveled to Mexico to help volunteer at an orphanage, visited a Navajo Reservation to help organize a Vacation Bible School, I volunteered at the elementary school I attended, and have babysat, nannied, and played with hundreds of children. With Umbrella NPO, I can share my passion for children, and help students with Aspergers and Autism receive the higher education they deserve.
Gary Hatch (2nd from right)
What a honor it is to be part of the wonderful cause that is Umbrella NPO. My name is Gary Hatch and as a member of the board I feel that I should share some of my past experiences so that you may understand my dedication to the future. As a young child many of my fondest memories were ones involving service. Many of these included; eagle projects for the Boy Scouts of America program, church reach out visits to the sick and elderly, and delivering bicycles and shoes to the less fortunate of Mexico. These wonderful experiences helped me in my decision to act a full time volunteer minister for the LDS church, in which I spent two years living abroad in North-eastern England. Many of my duties there included organizing church services, humanitarian aid, and responsibility of 25 other volunteers. Our focus of my two years of service was primarily focused towards the African refugees who had sought asylum in the United Kingdom and where in process of starting new lives and assistance to their families back home. During that wonderful time of service to the people of England, I was able to see what true joy accompanies a life self-less service. With these past experiences as a basis, I plan on doing all that I can do the help the Umbrella NPO fulfill it’s goals for the future.
